The Saga of the Socks

Nearly 3 years ago, I went on a long walk to a yarn store in Boulder. My companion was really enthusiastic about this sock yarn that magically looked like Fair Isle. She insisted that socks were not very hard.

For the next year or so, I periodically worked on the first sock. (I probably wouldn't have made them quite so long, but I was nervous...) I finally got up the nerve to turn my first heel and it worked! I think I finished the first sock sometime last year. I then promptly started the second sock. But things kept getting in the way. When I picked up that sock again last week, I'm pretty sure it had been at least 9 months since I had last touched it.

Lest you think, "Well, maybe socks just take a long time", you should know that, in the time since I first brought my first sock-in-progress to knitting, Val and Rebecca have produced many many socks, 2 pairs of which are living in my very own home. I'm just slow.

Nice socks! They look great--very colorful. Now you'll have to visit someplace cool this summer to get a chance to wear them soon.
